Lightening every few seconds? Why?... Scared!?
If the difference between lighting flash and sound is less than ten seconds (i.e. the storm is less than a couple of miles away) I recommend you turn off all electrical equipment and unplug them from the sockets to protect them in case of a lightning strike. It won't stop the lightning hitting your house, if it's going to hit it's going to hit and there's nothing you can do to stop it but if it does hit your house most of the charge will go safely to ground but any electrical equipment plugged in will get such a power surge that it will damage the electricals.
